The Prince of Wales plans to journey to Germany to support the England men's football team as they take on Denmark in the Euro 2024 tournament.

Kensington Palace announced that William, the president of the FA, will be present at the Frankfurt Arena on 20 June, the day before his 42nd birthday, to watch Gareth Southgate’s team in their second Group C stage opening match.

The future monarch of England, who paid a visit to the team to convey his best wishes on Monday prior to their departure for Germany, received scrutiny in 2023 for not being present at the England women's team's World Cup football final against Spain in Sydney.

This marked the inaugural occasion the Lionesses had advanced to a World Cup final, and it also marked the first time an England football team had participated in a World Cup final since the men’s side emerged victorious against West Germany in 1966.

At the beginning of the week, William surprised the England men’s squad with a visit to St George’s Park, England’s national football centre in Burton upon Trent, where he presented them with shirts.

Additionally, he relayed a piece of advice from his youngest son, Prince Louis, who humorously suggested that the players should "eat twice the amount" to boost their chances of securing victory in the Euros. William's upcoming journey will be undertaken solo.

The Duchess of Wales is currently taking a break from public obligations as she undergoes treatment for cancer. Given that the match falls on a school night, it is unlikely that the Waleses' children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Louis – will join him.

William, an ardent supporter of Aston Villa, won't be attending England's opening match of the UEFA tournament against Serbia in person on Sunday. However, he will undoubtedly be eagerly watching the game on TV. England have been drawn in Group C, alongside Denmark, Serbia, and Slovenia.
